چکیده

Two hundred twenty-two sinus augmentation procedures were performed using one of three techniques: crestal approach; lateral approach; or lateral approach with simultaneous implant placement. Forty-one of these sinus augmentation procedures were performed in conjunction with buccolingual ridge augmentation. Of the 222 procedures, 217 (97.7%) were successful. Of 510 implants placed in augmented sinus areas, 495 (97.0%) were deemed successful by the criteria of Albrektsson et al for up to 73 months in function. Clinical considerations in the execution of such therapy are discussed.

Bone augmentation procedures in implant dentistry.

PURPOSE This review evaluated (1) the success of different surgical techniques for the reconstruction of edentulous deficient alveolar ridges and (2) the survival/success rates of implants placed in the augmented areas. MATERIALS AND METHODS Clinical investigations published in English involving more than 10 consecutively treated patients and mean follow-up of at least 12 months after commenc...

Maxillary Sinus Augmentation for Dental Implants

Pneumatization of the maxillary sinus secondary to posterior maxillary tooth loss is an extremely common finding. Significant atrophy of the maxilla prevents dental implant placement in this region. Grafting the floor of the maxillary sinus has emerged as the most common surgical modality for correcting this inadequacy. Graft material is introduced into the space created inferior to the sinus m...

Long-Term Survival of Dental Implants Placed in the Grafted Maxillary Sinus: Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Treatment Modalities

BACKGROUND A prevalent modality to increase the amount of available bone prior to implantation is grafting of the maxillary sinus. Multiple factors such as the surgical technique, moment of implant placement as well as grafting materials and membranes are known to affect implant survival. However, the role of different factor combinations and associated reciprocal effects remain unclear. Conven...

Complications with transcrestal sinus floor elevation: etiology, prevention, and treatment

The combination of postextraction ridge resorption [1] and pneumatization of the maxillary sinus [2, 3] often limits the bone available for implant placement in the posterior maxilla. Fortunately, the lateral and transcrestal approaches to sinus floor elevation (SFE) and augmentation can reproduce adequate subantral bone volumes for implant-supported rehabilitation in this region. The lateral w...

The role of angiogenesis in implant dentistry part II: The effect of bone-grafting and barrier membrane materials on angiogenesis

BACKGROUND In implant dentistry, bone substitute materials and barrier membranes are used in different treatments including guided bone regeneration (GBR), socket preservation, alveolar ridge augmentation, maxillary sinus elevation, and filling bony defects around the inserted dental implant. One of the most important factors in prognosis of treatments using these materials is the growth of new...
